Causes and effects

Causes and effects traces the causes into one event and the effects out of it, with arrows, so pupils keep the two apart.

The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.

How to run it

  1. Put the event in the middle, then each cause as you explain it.
  2. Then each effect, one at a time.
  3. Ask pupils to rank the causes, and say which effect lasted longest.

Why it works

Separating causes from effects stops pupils listing everything that happened. What comes first is not always a cause.
