Make sense of it

Hexagons

Hexagons puts the lesson's key terms on hexagon cards; pupils place them side by side where they link, and explain each link.

The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.

How to run it

  1. Pupils place the hexagons, in pairs.
  2. Each touching pair needs a reason.
  3. Share the strongest link.

Why it works

Explaining why two ideas connect is elaboration: it builds a web of meaning that makes the ideas easier to remember.
