Make sense of it
Minimally different questions
Minimally different questions change one thing at a time, so pupils say what changed and predict the effect before working it out.
The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.
How to run it
- Before each one, ask what changed and what will happen.
- Pupils work it out and check against their prediction.
- Talk about any prediction that was wrong.
Why it works
Holding everything else still makes the effect of the one change easy to see, so pupils notice what matters.
