Odd one out

Odd one out shows four things of the same kind, where a case can be made for more than one being the odd one out. Pupils choose and say why.

The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.

How to run it

  1. Give a minute to choose, alone.
  2. Take two or three different answers and their reasons.
  3. Ask which reason uses the lesson's ideas best.

Why it works

To argue for an odd one out, pupils have to compare properties, which is the thinking the lesson wants, not just recall.
