Visual sentence
A visual sentence shows one sentence in parts, each in its Colourful Semantics colour (who, doing, what, where) with a picture above it, so pupils see how a sentence is built and build their own.
The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.
How to run it
- Read the sentence together, pointing to each part and its colour.
- Ask the question each colour answers: who, what are they doing, what, where.
- Pupils build their own sentence with the same colours.
Why it works
Colour and a picture for each part make the structure of a sentence visible, which helps pupils who find it hard to put words in order.
