Write

Word target

A word target places the topic's key words in three rings by how much they matter, and pupils summarise the topic using them, scoring most for the words at the centre.

The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.

How to run it

  1. Read the words in each ring together.
  2. Pupils write a short summary using as many words as they can.
  3. They total their points and share the best summaries.

Why it works

Summarising in their own words makes pupils select and connect the main ideas, and the rings show which ideas matter most.
