1853 Crimean War starts, between Russia, Britain, France
1854 Florence went to Turkey to care for wounded soliders
1854 She made hospitals clean, to help save lives
1854 She was called the Lady with the Lamp, because she cared for people through the night
1856 Crimean War ended
1856 Florence returned to England
1860 Florence opened a training school for nurses
1883 Florence awarded Royal Red Cross by Queen Victoria
