Write
Text map
A text map is a short model text drawn as a winding path of pictures, a phrase under each, so pupils can learn to say the text by heart before they write their own version.
The real slide Chalk makes, in the Classroom look. Every word is written for your lesson when you use it.
How to run it
- Say the text together, pointing along the map.
- Pupils say it in pairs from the map alone, with actions.
- They change a few parts of the map and say, then write, their own version.
Why it works
Learning a model text by heart gives pupils the words and the shape of it before they have to write, so they can put their effort into the writing.
